Dr. LaTisha Knight, DVM, MS

Dr. Knight joined AEC in 2017 as our lead ophthalmologist in Wilmington NC. She did her DVM and residency training at Purdue University and spent several years in Nashville TN before joining our team.  She has expertise and interest in all aspects of ophthalmology including advance ocular imaging and diagnostics, microsurgical therapy using state of the art phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implantation, and laser surgical therapy, as well as advanced medical management of difficult corneal disease and glaucoma. 


Dr. Barrett W. Gift, DVM

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists

Dr. Gift joined AEC in 1998 and has been a critical member of our team ever since. He received his DVM from North Carolina State University and completed a Ophthalmology Residency at Animal Eye Care.  From 2010 through 2015 he was the Chief Ophthalmologist at our Wilmington NC office.  Dr. Gift and his family are transitioning back to the Triangle offices of AEC.  He is available for appointments in Durham and Cary.  His clinic research has focused on improving clarity of vision after cataract surgery.  


Dr. Jennifer P. Fontenelle, DVM, MS

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists

Dr. Fontenelle received her DVM from Louisiana State University and completed a Ophthalmology Residency at Colorado State University.  She joined the AEC team in 2008.  Her graduate work included investigation into the efficacy of topical antiviral therapy for feline herpes virus infections.

Dr. Karen Fisher, DVM

Practice Limited to Medical and Surgical Therapy for Eyes

Dr. Fisher has worked with Animal Eye Care since 2008. She graduated from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine and did a rotating small animal Internship with the Veterinary Specialty Hospital group in Cary and Raleigh.  She completed a 3.5 year Ophthalmology Internship and Residency at AEC as well.  She provides care for all patients and oversees our Equine service. 


Dr. Robert English, DVM, PhD

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists

 

Dr. English started Animal Eye Care in 1989.  He received undergraduate and DVM degrees from the University of Illinois and did his ophthalmology residency training and received a PhD in Immunology from NCSU.

Office Manager

Ms. Bean graduated from NCSU and has been with Animal Eye Care since 2006 and is critical for helping our doctors provide excellent care for both our patients and their owners.  

 


Ashley Powell, LVT

 

Office Manager

Ms. Powell has been a key member of the Animal Eye Care team in Wilmington since 2014 and helps us provide high end care for our patients in Wilmington.
